[Wheres My Website]

["Did you know your website is down?"]

[Wheres My Website]

I’ve had many businesses, and my website was usually the customer’s first point of contact. Hearing that my website was not working was not good news, mainly because I did not know how long it had been down for. Had it been down for hours or days? I would check the stats, but that did not give a good enough picture, as some days my website did not get any hits anyway!

I like to be proactive, not reactive. I want to be the first to know when my website is down. For me, it is better to tell a customer that I know my website is down than for them to tell me.

What is the cost of a website being down?
My initial thought was that my website was directly related to some of my turnover. My computer repair business turnover was £80k annually; I guessed that £20k was from my website. I think that’s £20k / 525,600 (Minutes in a year). This gave me a figure of 0.03p per minute. Nothing to worry about, or so I thought.

If you are looking for your computer to be repaired in a hurry, and my website was down in that exact minute, then you would go somewhere else. That repair was worth at least £50 to me. If that customer then owned a business and I began looking after their business computers, that could be worth £100s. If that business had needed an app or bespoke computer system, I would have lost £1000s!

This is why my website being available is important to me and why I created Where’s My Website.

Where’s My Website sends a text message the instant that the website is down, unavailable, or has gone into maintenance mode (Plugin failed after an update).

Wheres My Website

Our app will check up to 5 web pages 200 times per day, if your site is down, you will receive an SMS text message alerting you. You will then receive another SMS text when your site is back up. Ensuring that you know the state of your website before your customers and prospects find out.
